From the Mouths of Buddies

I live around freakin hilarious people. So much so that I have entire quote walls dedicated to them up at school. And I just keep saving them. (I know, I'm kind of a pack rat. To a point though, I swear!) But before college, I only had my facebook. And I was reading these quotes from it and I think it's probably time for a little spring cleaning. A lot of these people have moved around and we're all so busy and doing our own thing with new people and surroundings that I haven't got to keep in touch very much. But I just couldn't bear to delete these off my facebook without putting them somewhere to look at later when I want a little reminiscing. So here they are for you to enjoy too!

"Who wants to work at a place that starts with wiener!?" - Rachel Martin

"I think World War 2 was just an inside joke between the US and Japan." - Drew Campini

"Wow. I've never had uncooked pop-tarts before...This is new...It's raw...Like pop-tart sushi." - Taylor Kunysz

Me: "Why would you put chunks in it? That defeats the purpose of a SMOOTHIE!"Alex Pinkham: "Yeah, it's a CHUNKIE!"

So question: If you had the choice between a million dollars and flying, what would you choose? ***See everyone chooses the million and it makes me mad. Heres the reason. You go find Bill Gates or someone else who has mass amounts of money. You go up to them and be like "hey I bet you 2 million dollars that I can fly." They take the bet because who can really fly? Well to their surprise, you can fly, and they lose 2 million dollars. So it turns out you get to fly and get twice the amount of money that was originally offered. See how smart I am? - Drew Campini

If I were going to swear, I wouldn't block out letters....I'd say the whole dmn word." - Stephen Cope

"Love is everything it's cracked up to be.It really is worth fighting for, being brave for, risking everything for. And the trouble is,if you don't risk everything, you risk even more." - Ilyssa Russ

"Well soooorry that I don't watch himlpkt42 like everyone else!" - Spencer Perkins

"Ok. Here's what men think about being gay......If the sex wasn't sooo terrible,...it would be awesome."(3 of us) "What?!""Yeah, because then it's just guy time 24/7. Screw girls!...Well, actually, I guess you wouldn't.." - Miguel Sanchez

"Google monkey woman research...sex" - Alex Pinkham

"Do I have a chubby face?............I feel like I look like an Iraqi when I look at myself upside down." - Ryan Stratford

(Talking about Iron Man) "Whatever! He liked that..Papa Potts!" - Alex Pinkham

"What? I smell good. I only sweat POSitive b.o." - Troy Shields

"In a way, being late is good. I mean there's the saying 'early bird gets the worm' but that worm was early too...so the real saying should be 'the late worm doesnt get eaten' " - Drew Campini

"(About love troubles) This is REAL life! Like biology? Who cares? I don't care about my cells as long as they're working right!" - Sibonet Holden

The Krupa Kouple

I am SOOOO excited that my two sweet, hilarious, adorablest friends got MARRIED on July 14th!! I am not kidding when I say I was looking forward to it since February when they got engaged!! I love those two. Andrea and I spent many a nights staying up and chatting about Nick & James and her talking about their relationship and the future she saw with him. It was so awesome.

Which was just like their wedding day-- everything was so beautiful and it all ran so smoothly, even with the slight drizzle! Andrea was one of the most beautiful brides I have ever seen-she looked so elegant and happy. Nick too. He was so excited! They had that whole "we're so in love and happy" glow going on all day long! I was seriously sore from smiling so much! I was so happy that Sib came with us and that I actually had a date to a wedding for once! (A handsome one at that!) I knew a ton of people and I was so happy so many came to support them and show their love. The dancing, decorations, and the food were all just amazing. AND! I caught the bouquet! Everyone gave James quite a hard time about it.

I love those two. I love when TWO of my friends fall in love, let alone one. Andrea has always been such an amazing friend and roommate and I am sooo blessed I get to have her in my life. And I am even more excited she and Nick found each other because I just love Nick. He is so fun and hilarious and full of energy and Andrea needed someone just like him. They are going to be the hit of any town they live in. I am beyond excited to stalk their cute little married lives. :)

A Dinner to Die For

Thursday, July 12, 2012

Today I was redoing my Weebly (since the last time I really even looked at it was two years ago) and I had forgotten about all of my cute little projects from my first semester at I-News, now Scroll Digital. I was so creative with their names too (I remember always being super proud about that)

There was
  • "An A-maze-ing Activity" about a straw maze in Idaho
  • "Creative Inner Soles" about people on campus who are obsessed with shoes and had a TON
  • "Rexburg Unplugged" (ok, not clever, but it was my VERY first package)
  • And one called "Like it's 1959" which was about the Emeritus Breakfast here on campus.

Unfortunately, the website I had those all uploaded on was totally redone. I literally was so so so sad when I found out. Nothing was saved. So I lost every single one...well ok, except one. I named it "A Dinner to Die For" and when you watch it, you'll obviously see why I think I'm so cool. Haha!

Anyway, I wanted to put it on my blog so I can have it forever. But I hope you enjoy it anyway!

Obviously Oblivious

Monday, July 9, 2012

We all know that Heavenly Father has a sense of humor. In different ways, at one point or another, he has proved that to us. Or maybe it's not a "sense of humor" so much, but the way he goes about teaching something. I was reading our Family Foundations assignment and then I saw this.

And I had to double check that, but yep. That's him, calling me out. And this isn't the first time.

Side story: James and I were both in class one time and asked our teacher about when he proposed to his wife. He told us they were talking after his mission, after they'd been dating for only a short while, and the subject came up. And she told him it would be better to wait a little while. Well his heart sank because he had the ring in his pocket!! So a few days passed by and he was thinking about it and he was confused. So he decided he was just going to ask her anyway. It would make her feelings for him very clear. So he did! And she said yes and that she only said to wait because she thought that's what he wanted to hear! James told me that's what he was going to do and I freaked out. It was kind of our joke (although, I don't think he thought it was a funny one) Fast forward: our teacher was conducting a panel discussion for our class. We always sit pretty close to the front, so we know Brother (Elder?) Chambers saw us. He asked the people up on the stand when is a good time to pop the question. And James and I both looked at each other, knowing he was asking for us. (One of them answered that you should take the girl on a nice picnic by a river. Then, walk across the river and push her in. If she comes up smiling, you should marry her. If she doesn't...you should run. Haha!)

Heavenly Father knows that we (He & I) have been talking (and obsessing) about different things and he doesn't joke around when he wants me to get something through my thick head, let me tell you. I think it's fun when he sends little messages to me here and there to let me know he knows. He gets it. And he also knows I am pretty stubborn so need to remember that I just need to just let him answer me in his own ways, in his own time. Gosh, where would I be without this gospel?!

The article goes on to say some really beautiful things. (Obviously. I mean, it's come straight from the mouths of seriously spiritual in tune men and women!) So I suggest you students take that class and do NOT take everything you read and hear with a grain of salt.

Anyway, there it is people. You want to know what suddenly made me change my mind about waiting? I guess among other things, it's the big, fat hint from my Heavenly Father.

Five On the Fourth

Friday, July 6, 2012

If you know me at all, you know that the Fourth of July is SO much fun for me. In fact, I made not only James wear red, white, and blue, but his dear little roommates also all walked out that door wearing red, white, and blue. (Well, I wasn't the only one encouraging it so that's a relief!) I love the fireworks, I love the colors, I love the music, I love the food, the celebrating...just everything. But especially the fireworks.
Yeah, I know. His pictures were WAY better. But this is the best I got with my phone.
So me, James, Brandon, Whitney, and Matt all went down to Idaho Falls for a fun-filled day of celebrating! And not just the patriotic kind, but it was Whitney's birthday too!

First, we visited Jacob in the hospital, and he is doing great. The last time James and I had seen him was about a week earlier and he was doing so good then too, but he didn't really smile and couldn't really maintain eye contact. Plus he was pretty antsy and couldn't stay in one place and wasn't making a whole lot of sense, but we could understand what he was trying to say. This time was MUCH better.

He was awake and about and was back to teasing James just like they would before the accident! He was making perfect sense, smiling, laughing...it was so awesome. And James didn't come right out and say it, but I saw him light up. He was so happy with Jacob's progress and that his friend was doing SO well. He's recovering faster than any of us thought! So thank you all for your prayers and keep them coming! :)
Look how handsome he is...okay okay, that's enough checkin him out.
Then we headed to Idaho Falls to find a parking spot before it got too crazy. We'd stopped at Subway to grab some food to eat there and Brandon knew this family who lived RIGHT by the river and roped off their property for their friends and family to sit. And they knew Brandon so they let us sit there! It was awesome. Prime parking for our little bums. And I enjoyed my Meatball Marinara despite all those disgusting bugs trying to get in my nose. We went exploring too, which was cool. They had a ton of little booths for all kinds of food. Pretty much anything you wanted, you could find it there.

Once we were going to pass out from the heat, we decided to come back. There was an older couple that was DJ-ing for the whole block pretty much (interesting choice of old music that I couldn't tell if I loved or hated) and they were eventually asked to play some other music that was a little more trendy. That was fun. I was the only one that got up there and danced with complete strangers, but it was so fun! Then, some of the family members that owned the home (who I forgot to mention--everyone sitting on that lawn was Hawaiian or Poly looking. So fun) got up and did some dancing for us! They were SO amazing! It reminded me of back home, when we would have luau stake dances and President Beck would bring his sons & cousins and teach us all the Haka. It was great.

Eventually the fireworks started and Matt & I just gawked at how awesome they were while James snapped away on his camera. (Brandon and Whitney sat behind us) The Idaho Falls show is always the way to go. It's HUGE, longer, and there are SOOO many fireworks. They literally light up the sky. I don't know if he was kidding, but James said you could probably see them from Rexburg! Then, us tired little guys all went home and went to sleep. So lame we had school the next morning. I guess you win some and lose some.
Happy Fourth of July!

News Crews

Thursday, July 5, 2012

It's official!! I am going to be the News Producer for Scroll Digital next semester!!! COULD NOT BE MORE EXCITED!!! Can you tell?!

In case you don't know, that means I will now be getting paid for what I've been doing for free the last 3 semesters!! I will produce my own show once a week, teach people how to use all the programs and shoot & edit footage, how to put together news packages, and get to be in charge of one fun crew. I've got big plans so be prepared. :)

Boredom At Its Best

Tuesday, July 3, 2012

Everyone knows I can't be trusted to get things done without distractions. I can't help myself! I have 90s Pop flowin like mad on Pandora, about 6 tabs open (BUT 2/3 of that IS school related!) and sunshine in my soul! Hence, things like this happen in the Caves of the Spori.

I hope I will still have friends after this post. One can only hope.

Snow Better FHE

Monday, July 2, 2012

I haven't talked a whole lot about my roommates this semester because we've all been so busy so we don't have a lot of play time. But today was just what we needed because after we got done at FHE (we played kickball against another family, which I was SO proud of everyone for doing amazingly. I love my little family) we decided to go down and finally get some snow cones! Can you believe they were the FIRST of the semester? I know. It's so sad.
The funny thing was that without planning it, we pretty much met up with the entire other team!

I know it's so weird, and it probably makes me sound like a fatty, but one thing I looove about Rexburg in the spring is when the snow cone stands start popping up everywhere! They are insanely delicious. You pretty much can't go wrong. And this place put extra syrup in theirs...just my style.

Our (Almost) July 4th Outing

Sunday, July 1, 2012

Yesterday was a VERY good day.

James and I, Brandon, Whitney, and Matt all went down to Driggs to have dinner with a family that James taught...Hold up.

Side note: I LOVE visiting people from James's mission with him. It is SO fun to see him light up every time he goes back. (Incase you don't know, he served in the Pocatello, Idaho mission so we're pretty dang close to TONS of people!)

I know he was a really good missionary a) because EVERYONE knows and LOVES him, b) because people have countless stories about him and his companions and he laughs through the whole thing and gets fired up whenever they recount them to me, c) it's in the hugs people give me, let alone him and d) he's James and has THE most caring heart of anyone I have ever met.

Anyway, so we had a BBQ dinner with them and talked with their family and the boys tossed around a football with their kids while Whitney and I watched and tried to avoid Brandon's "secret" flying rocks. It was really fun. They were so nice and I felt like I'd known them forever even when I came in the door. Then we all went to Huntsman Springs together and (although we missed Glenn Beck!) set up camp before the big show! Matt did homework, Brandon & Whitney explored, the Spencers were right there snuggled up to each other next to us, James set up his camera, and I just took it all in.
These gems were after about 25 picture attempts...seriously.
Jayme and Christine (James's roommate and his fiance) even met up with us so we all got to watch them together! And man do I LOVE fireworks. The Fourth of July is probably my third favorite holiday (I mean, you just can't top Valentine's Day and Christmas) and it makes me SO proud to be in this crazy, unpredictable country that was founded on morals and the freedom to do so. Can't be beat.
These are the SUH-WEET pictures James got!! They look like some awesome galaxy exploding!
What can I say? I just love my life. And I love my friends who make the drive home 10 times better: nodding their cowboy hats to random strangers (and since we are in Idaho, they do it right back) and a driver who takes the SCARIEST, but easier path so we don't have to sit in a looooooong line of cars just to save his car (that's my country boy who needs a truck. Haha) and who decide that ice cream is a must at midnight. Yeah. Pretty amazing day.
